For standard cooling fans, 2-speed fans, Q-fans, or even dynamic brake fans, NRE has your cooling requirements covered with Unit Exchange remanufactured equipment.
When electrical rotating equipment arrives at NRE, it is completely disassembled and tested. After being washed, the stator is varnish dipped and tested with new leads applied. Vacuum pressure impregnation of the stator will enhance the fans ability to run longer by allowing prolonged bearing life. The fan is balanced to, or beyond, OEM specifications. The frame is blasted and repainted to meet the specs of the customer’s locomotive requirements.
Each completed fan is run in a test area to check direction of rotation and amperage. A detailed quality inspection is made on each fan completed before shipment to meet ISO 9002 regulations.

The NRE E-GOV is intended for use as a replacement for the mechanical hydraulic Woodward PGR governor. It takes commands from either the standard engine control signals (AV, BV, CV, and DV) or via SAE J1939 over CAN bus. Engine speed control is provided by adjusting the fuel control rack.

The NGAUGE is built on GWR technology – “Guided Wave Radar”. A high-speed pulse is launched down the probe, reflects off the surface of the liquid and returns back to the probe, where the total flight time of the pulse is calculated, and thus the level is measured.
Liquid level/volume is shown on a digital display using user defined units (gallons, litres). The sensor is customized to the exact tank dimensions, and programmed with overfill alarms.

NRE provides both new and remanufactured diesel engines.
Prime Movers are remanufactured to the customer’s specifications using OEM guidelines. Both AAR certified and ISO 9001:2000 registered, our granite table is utilized for dimensional checks to ensure all tolerances of the ‘A’ frame are repaired to OEM specifications. The main line bore is checked, welded and machined giving you a fresh line bore. The ‘A’ frame is then sent to one of our CNC milling machines for machining of all repaired surfaces including head surfaces, lower liner area and exhaust surfaces. Final checks are made on the ‘A’ frame. The ‘A’ frame is then matched to the oil pan and sent to the assembly line. All components and accessories are rebuilt by skilled craftsmen and supplied to the assembly line.
Upon completion of the assembly, prime movers are fully load tested in one of our test cell facilities. During the load test, bearing temperatures along with water, fuel and oil flows are monitored. Lube oil samples are lab analyzed and recorded as part of the engine build manual. The completed prime mover is then painted and prepared for shipment or installation into locomotives. All build documents are available to the customer upon request. By signing up for our innovative PRIME MOVER EXCHANGE PROGRAM, NRE will supply you a remanufactured prime mover in only two weeks.
